A new play adapted from the Jason and the Argonauts by Mrinalini Kamathwith Original songs by Little Embers ( myspace.com/littleembers) Directed by Jesse Jou Part one of Fluid Motion's "Women at War'" workshop series, "The Quest" is South Asian American playwright Mrinalini Kamath's adaptation of the stories of the mythic Quest for the Golden Fleece. The piece explores the theme of why we quest and how this drive transcends the desire for love, fame and immortality. This play was the inaugural 2006 commission in Fluid Motion's Start the Story commissioning program. The week-long workshop will culminate in three staged readings with artist talkbacks.
Presented in association with the National Asian American Theatre Festival.
The 2006 Start the Story Commission was made possible by the Nancy Quinn Fund and Maria-Teresa A. Gamboni. The 2007 workshop of The Golden Fleece Project was supported by a generous grant from the Fund for Creative Communities/New York State Council on the Arts, administered by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.
